Whiskraft whisked pure magic at the sweet and tipsy bazaar!!

If you are a foodie like me, then food bazaars are one of the best places to put your palette to test. In a city like Mumbai, where food is taken really seriously, there is no dearth of delicious little pop-ups springing up during the weekends. Recently The little door, Andheri hosted ‘The sweet and tipsy Bazaar’, which brought together Mumbai’s best home bakers, patisseries etc under one roof which gave us a much awaited chance to sample some of the sugary treats. The sheer display of delicious cakes, cupcakes, cake jars, cookies, brownies, ice cream, waffles, chocolates was enough to put me on a sugar rush. There were a number of talented home bakers who would have given any shop a run for their money; whiskraft was definitely one of them. Their stall was full of these cake jars which looked so pretty and tasted just as awesome.

Pranita Potnis, who is the magic behind these jars is an all star baker. The flavours on display were – Orange tang, nutella crunch, choco-whiskey and rainbow velvet. Being partial to both whiskey and chocolate, choco-whiskey was my most obvious choice, followed by orange tang for some fruity freshness.

Both the jars were as delicious as I had imagined. The cakes were moist with perfect layers of cream complimenting the overall flavour. While the choco-whiskey was strong and dark, the orange tang had a nice burst of fruity flavour. I loved it, all the more since it is so difficult to get a nice orange cake these days. The best part about cake jars? You dig your spoon in and don’t stop till you are finished 😀

desserts

In addition to the desserts, I also bought a singaporean garlic chilli sauce from the Pune Farmers Market.  The dip was delicious and I intend to stock up on some more flavours ( PS: I have my eye on the moroccan harissa).

For all the thirsty souls, there was a line up of beers and some of the best innovative cocktails at awesomely discounted rates. Lots of finger food, pasta and pizzas to hog the afternoon away. I already waiting for the next pop-up.. Hope that happens soon!!

Fashion’s Day out at ‘Out of the Box’

Curated fashion and lifestyle exhibitions have become the order of the day with the city buzzing with different gorgeous popups almost every week. There is something exciting about these events where you can put your best eye forward and score some really unique and quirky stuff to add to your wardrobe. Recently I attended the Out of the Box exhibition by ‘Celebrity Safes’ held at Tote on the Turf, Mahalakshmi and enjoyed every moment of it. Out Of The Box is a luxury lifestyle exhibition for upcoming and established entrepreneurs from the fashion, décor and gourmet industry. They have handpicked homegrown brands from across India to give the consumers a unique shopping experience all under one roof.

Though it was around 2 PM on a weekday when I entered Tote, the place was buzzing with shoppers, collegians, bloggers etc. Most of the stalls were laden with pre-festive goodies and I could see people lapping it up. Ladies were hauling over-flowing shopping bags around and there was a sound of organized chaos in the vicinity. Though the flow of shoppers were non-stop there was no sign of frantic disarray which I whole heartedly appreciated. I weaved through the crowd to check out the stalls. From shoes to jewellery, maxi tops, embroidered tunics, bejeweled bags to organic skin products, candles, massages and paintings, Out of the box had something for everyone. In addition to fashion and lifestyle there were delicious food stalls to satiate the hunger from hours of bargain hunting. There was a light music playing in the background further upping the shopping experience. I met some of the designers who were enthusiastic to talk about their collections and scoured through some awesome stalls for some really unique must have pieces.

Here are some of the stalls that caught my eye:

In addition to music, shopping and laughter, Out of the Box is also encouraging people to shop for a cause where in a part of the proceeds from the exhibition will be going towards the empowerment of women and education of the girl child. Not only will a portion of the sales be donated to worthy causes, but we could also interact with NGO’s Asha Sadan, Savera, Sai NGO cancer support, Helping Hand Foundation, Deeds, Supavitram and Ismailia Helping Society, who were participating at the event. These organisations have been actively doing humanitarian work for children, women and senior citizens.

What I like most about these popups are the customized products that you stumble on. Also you get to buy products from these quirky brands which aren’t always available online. So if you are a shopping addict like me, these pop-ups will be your dream come true for sure. Eagerly waiting for the second edition!!

The ring story..

Accessories are an essential part of a daily outfit. It has the power to change a basic t-shirt into something very gorgeous in a minute. While neckpieces and handcuffs are the primary go to for us, we often overlook the dainty finger rings which are just as equally important. ‘Good things come in small packages’ is one apt quote for these beauties. Currently the market is flooded with rings of all shapes and sizes- midi rings to cocktail rings, embellished, with pearls, stones etc. In short everything that you little heart desires.

I personally favor statement rings with intricate work or something with pearls. While the pearls could be worn for a day look and instantly add a touch of class to your ootd, the statement rings look great for an evening look. Below are some of my more recent looks with the current must-haves this season.

  1. This pearl and lip ring will add just the correct amount of jazz and class to any outfit.
